SUPER STOCK V-8
2008
1. Standard American made cars or trucks with rear wheel drive. Camaros and Firebirds ok. (See weight section.)
2. BODY - Stock type with stock appearance. Aftermarket nose and tail sections ok, but must match body. Doors, fenders, and quarter panels may be aluminum or steel, but must be stock appearing. Aftermarket hoods ok. Hood scoops ok, but are not to be functional. Breathers may come thru the hoods, but must be boxed in with 2 1/2 deflector in front and sides of air filter. Trunk floor pans may be removed. Stock steel floor pans (side to side) must be present. Front snout must have floor pan of steel in drivers compartment. Front/rear fender wells may be removed. Fenders may be cut for tire clearance. After market performance/Five Star bodies ok, not late model type bodies.
3. FIREWALL - Does not have to be in stock location and may be fabricated of steel, not aluminum.
4. SPOILERS - 6 max. rear spoilers ok. Side spoilers ok. 6 high 12long max. Must taper from 6 to 1 within 12 length of side spoiler. Center bracing ok for spoiler.
5. CHASSIS - Uni-body cars may tie sub-frames together, tubing may be installed in the rocker panel area to connect the roll cage. Frames may be shortened, but must stay within the 105/1tolarance range. Rear coil spring cars must have functional stock four links in the stock location (top links may be adjustable for pinion angle adjustment). FORD, CHRYSLER, etc. may run GM metric frames. Factory stock appearance or performance/Five Star bodies ok. Engine and body must match. Front snout tubing to rear (old T&L type chassis rear leaf spring) legal, but must run the GM #88058602 crate engine at 2700 lbs or GM #88058604 crate engine at 2900 lbs. Weights may be changed in the interest of competitive racing. No exceptions for motor rules on this type chassis.
6. WHEELBASE - 105 with 1 tolerance. Wheelbase will be measured from center of front ball joint to center of the rear wheel.
7. ROLL CAGE - Must have a full roll cage constructed of a min. of 1 1/2 tubing of adequate thickness to protect driver from injury.
8. WHEELS - Steel 8 max. width. Large wheel studs recommended. Bead lock on the right rear only.
9. TIRES - 60 or 70 series dot over the counter tires ok. Max. 60 series size is 275-60-15 no grooving or cutting. No racing tires or racing recaps. Max. tread width is 8 3/4.
10. BRAKES - 4 wheel disc brakes ok. Any pedals. Dual brake master cylinders ok. Brake adjusters ok.
11. SUSPENSION - A) Racing shocks ok. May relocate front shock, if front screw jacks installed.
B) Tubular upper A-arms ok. Stock type lower A-arms in stock location.
C) Front screw jacks ok. Spring spacers and shackles ok.
D) Leaf spring cars must use GM type multi-leaf springs. No Chrysler leaf springs or mono leafs. Sliders ok.
E) No coil overs or pan hard bars. No shock on top of rear-end.
F) Adjustable upper trailing arms (for rear end pinion angle o.k.)
12. DRIVE SHAFT - Steel only. 1 1/2 min. diameter. Painted white with car # painted on it. Must have safety loop or chain installed. 13. ENGINE - Standard production GM 350/FORD 351 or CHRYSLER engines. Cubic inch max. Ford/Chevy 365 c.i., Chrysler 374 c.i. (no after market blocks), or GM engine #88958602 in front snout/tube to rear (old T&L chassis) at 2700 lbs, or GM crate engine #88958604 in front snout/tube to rear at 2900 lbs. Weights on this engine/chassis combination may be changed during the season in the interest of competitive racing.
A) Engine setback-front spark plug in line with ball joint.
B) Max. overbore .060, 0 deck ok.
C) May straight or angle cut heads.
D) 3/4 bowl cut/hand blending must carry additional 50 lbs. weight, 7/8 will be disqualified.
E) GM HEADS #'S - 041, 186, 291, 461, 462, 492 (other GM heads may be ok, check with tech). NO BOWTIE HEADS. Vortec o.k., BUT NOT BOWTIE VORTEC. Vortec heads may run either 1.94/1.50 or 2.02/1.60 valves (see weight section). Vortec heads must run either Edelbrock performer duel plane #2116 aluminum intake or GM performance dual plane aluminum intake #12366573 (see weight section). No Ford N-351/N-352 heads. No GT-40, Mopar W-2, or Magnum RT heads.
F) World products S/R heads #04360 thru 043650 with small valves ok. World products S/R TORQUER heads #042660-1, #042670-1, #042770-1, #042650-1, or #042750-1 with 2.02x 1.6 valves with stock diam. (1.250). Single valve springs ok with 50 lbs. additional weight. FORD may run World products Windsor Jr. cast iron heads #053030 thru #053030-1 with small valves. If 2-02x 1.60 are installed, the car must carry an additional 50 lbs. weight. Must be stock diam. single valve springs (1.250). World product heads must run intakes listed in the rules section, line #20. No porting or polishing on any head. NO DOUBLE VALVE SPRINGS. Valve spring dampners/cushioners ok.
G) Screw in studs, poly locks, stud girdles and roller rocker arms ok.
H) There is a single head removal protest (protesters choice of head) of $150. This is for head protest only (valves, valve size, bowl cut, springs, etc.). This protest only involves heads. The track keeps $50. Bore/stroke, carburetor, intake, etc. is included in the complete top end protest. Complete top end protest ($300) and bottom end ($500) rules apply.
I) Valley pans ok.
14. VALVES - Any steel valve. Stock diameter (1.250) single valve springs only. Any steel retainers /keepers. NO DOUBLE VALVE SPRINGS.
A) Two per cylinder. Standard valve size is GM 1.94 intake & 1.5 exhaust. FORD 1.84 intake 1.54 exhaust. CHRYSLER 1.88 intake 1.6 exhaust. (Note - 2.02 intake & 1.6exhaust valves with 3/4 blend or any combination of 3/4 blend or large valves must carry additional 50 lbs. weight for any head. Example: vortec heads with 2.02/1.60 valves car must weigh 3350 lbs or 1.94/1.50 valves at 3300 lbs.) GM crate engine vortec engine must run stock size valves.
B) Three angle valve job ok. No titanium valves.
15. PISTONS - Forged or cast pistons. Flat top or dished. No domed pistons. May balance.
16. RODS - Any steel rods ok. No aluminum.
17. CAM - Solid lift .475 with .025 lash. Hydraulic checked with .000 lash. Stock diameter lifters.
18. CRANKSHAFT - Cast or steel; stock stroke 3.48GM. Min. weight 48 lbs. cast, 50 lbs. steel. May balance. No knife edging. Can be after market, but must weigh 48 lbs. or 50 lbs.
19. CARBURETOR - Either of Holley 650 #4777 (May remove the choke, re-jet. Max. venturi size is primary 1.250, secondary 1 5/16. Max. base plate size is 1 11/16), or Holley 650 #80777, or Holley 600 #1850 (May remove choke, re-jet. Max. throttle bore is 1 9/16. Max. venturi size is primary 1.250, secondary 1 5/16). Holley 600 and 650 may run max. 1 adapter plate with stock OEM cast iron intake. Any quadra-jet ok. Quadra-jets must run stock cast iron intake, no spacer plate. ($350 BUY OUT RULE ON ANY CARBURETOR RUN)
20. INTAKE MANIFOLD - CHEVY- Edelbrock performer dual plane #2101 aluminum intake or any stock OEM cast iron intakes only. No bow tie or Brezenski intakes. VORTEC HEADS Edelbrock dual plane intake # 2116 or GM performance dual plane #12366573. FORD may run the Edelbrock 2181 dual plane aluminum intake with the World Products Windsor Jr. cast iron heads or any stock cast iron intake on factory o.e.m. heads. No modifications.
21. EXHAUST - Any type header ok.
22. IGNITION - Stock ignitions only (such as HEI). No MSD or magnetos. Any coil.
23. FLYWHEEL/CLUTCH - Stock type min. 10 1/2 clutch and pressure plate or 7 1/2 triple disc. NO SMALL TRIPLE DISC CLUTCHS. SUCH AS 5 1/2clutchs. There will be a $150 clutch only inspection protest fee (not removal and weigh inspection) track will keep $50. Flywheel min. 14 lbs. Manual transmissions with stock clutch/pressure plate MUST have a steel scatter proof shield (may be fabricated out of 3/16steel) installed and be track approved.
24. TRANSMISSION - Standard 3 (may remove 1st) or 4 speed (may remove 1st & 2nd) with a working reverse, or any OEM automatic with working torque converter. No Bert, Brinn or direct drives.
25. OIL PAN - Any type wet oil pan/oil pump. No external oil pumps. Oil cooler ok. May relocate spin on type oil filter.
26. FUEL PUMP - No electric.
27. WEIGHT - 3200 lbs. (2.02 x 1.6 valves and or 3/4 blend add 50 lbs.) (Vortec heads add 100 lbs. to built engines with 1.94/1.50 valves or 2.02/1.6 valves add another 50 lbs for a total of 150 lbs.) Front snout/tubing to rear with GM crate engine #88958602 at 2700 lbs or GM crate engine #88958604 at 2900 lbs. This type chassis can only run the #88958602 or #88958604 crate engines. NO exceptions. Weights on this chassis/engine combination may be changed during the season in the interest of competitive racing.
28. REAR ENDS - Stock type or 9 Ford ok in all cars. Floaters ok. No quick changes.
OPTIONAL ENGINES
1. GM Crate Engines - #88958602 (vortec head) with box stock Holley 650 #4777 at 2700 lbs., or if engine is in front snout (old T&L chassis) 2700 lbs. The #88958602 crate engine may run a maximum of 2 carburetor spacer plate. GM crate engine #88958604 at 2900 lbs., or if the engine is in front snout (old T&L chassis) 2900 lbs. Note - weights on crate engine cars may be adjusted during the season in the interest of competitive racing.
2. CARBURETOR - Holley 650 #4777 specs. venturi - primary 1 1/4, secondary 1 5/16, max. base plate 1 11/16. Holley 650 #4777 BUY OUT RULE IS $350.
3. PROTEST - GM crate engines will have a top end protest ($150, track keeps $50), which involves valve cover removal, check valve springs, keepers, spacers, push rod length & diam., rocker arms, cam lift, vacuum check and header removal. No sealed bolts will be removed for this protest. This protest involves one head only, protesters choice. The track has a parts list of all crate engines.
